New Zealand and Canadian governments have an agreement to prioritise shipments of bees from NZ to Canada every year during bee season which runs from February until May 16 in 2019. This restricts the live animal bookings available on Air New Zealand during this time. Pet Transport NZ work closely with Air New Zealand to respect our international obligations and national ecological priorities. We anticipate this annual period of restricted air travel by pre-booking AVI spaces that are not occupied by bee pallets to Canada on Air NZ and remain in constant dialogue with the airline to request extra spaces as they come available. We also predict the influx of pets travelling to Canada during the summer months in New Zealand and are able to provide alternate routes with other airline carriers throughout bee season. Whilst some pet transporters may refuse bookings to Canada during the bee embargo period, we are confident in our ability to assist you and your pets during this time. Diego the Rottweiler is booked to fly to Vancouver from Auckland Airport. This is testament to our ability to service Canadian destinations during a period of restricted air travel for live animals. If you need to travel to Canada with your pets between February and May either this year or next, we encourage you contact us as soon as possible to secure one of the limited space available.
Taking English Bulldogs to Ireland from New Zealand seemed impossible to Sonya. She was repeatedly refused international pet transport for her two Bulldogs, Bono (below left) and Bella (below right) by other NZ pet couriers. Bulldogs are notorious for excitable temperaments, coupled with an inability to regulate their own body temperatures and breathing like most brachycephalic breeds. Airlines and other pet transporters are reluctant to fly English Bulldogs. That's where Pet Transport NZ can help! Using our trusted agents in the US, we gained permission from the USDA (US authorities), DAFM (Irish authorities) and NZ MPI (NZ authorities) to create a new routing for these gorgeous snubnosed dogs. Using two different airlines, and two long stopovers in LAX and Zurich, we ensured Bella and Bono had time at each transit to get out of their cages, and have some free space to chill until their next flight. With each snubnose or brachycephalic client we take on, we make sure we meet the dogs or cats first. We need to assess their physical health and explain to owners the risks at play with flying their pets overseas. However, we stand by the motto we always held – that so long as snubnosed pets are properly cage trained, healthy and fit, and travelling in MASSIVE cages – (we think safety requires providing at least 4 x body weight in airflow), then they should travel exactly the same as all our pets: safely and comfortably! Without making light of their special needs, flying snubnosed pets is more complex but we wholeheartedly support anyone who can't bear to leave their pets behind. If you are travelling long haul and want to take your snubnosed dog or cat, we are the only international pet transport agency who can and will make it happen. It does take patience and a bit more hard work but if you are committed to taking your pet with you, so are we. We are all about keeping furry families together!

If you want to travel on the same plane as your pet, contact a pet transport consultant in NZ before you start booking your flights overseas. You need to ensure you both arrive during the Veterinary Border Control hours at your destination airport. .Before flying, your pets must undergo an examination by the Official Ministry of Primary Industries Veterinarian of NZ. Here they must obtain an MPI Health Export Certificate and a separate Animal Welfare Export Certificate. As the only Pet Transport service located at Auckland airport, moving pets to the UK is really easy with us. MPI is also based at Auckland airport and MPI Certification is simply completed on the day we fly your pet to the UK.
